Automatic Sliding Communal Entrance Door — Project Snapshot

  • Location: Auckland Hall, Smith’s Wood, Solihull
  • Sector: Community & Voluntary (VCSE) / Community Centre
  • Scope: Design, manufacture and installation of automatic sliding communal entrance (stainless-steel frame with Anti-Bandit glazing)
  • Objectives: Accessibility for wheelchair and buggy users, safety, durability, welcoming aesthetic
  • Programme: Install completed in 3 days with activities continuing on site.

The challenge
Auckland Hall is a busy community centre. The old uPVC doors were narrow, stiff, and frequently failing, creating an accessibility barrier—especially for wheelchair users and those with reduced mobility. Heating loss and draughts were also concerns during events when doors needed to be propped open.

Our solution
Warrior Doors designed and installed a fully glazed, automatic sliding communal entrance built around a stainless-steel frame for long-term durability. The new doorway offers a wider clear opening, smooth automated operation, and a modern look that brightens the lobby and makes the building feel more welcoming. Operational modes support safety and energy efficiency for day-to-day use.

“We love it because it brightens up our hallway… it makes us look much more modern in our little community building.” — Judy Tullett, Project Manager, Cars Area Together.

Installation & compliance

To keep the community timetable running, the upgrade was delivered in three days with minimal disruption. Warrior Doors co-ordinated Building Control and secured Building Regulations sign-off, giving the hall a fully compliant, future-proof entrance.

“We’re not experts in structural engineering, so we were grateful that Warrior took on building regs approval… construction has been signed off by Building Control.” — Judy Tullett.
