Birmingham-based security manufacturer Warrior Doors has reinforced its growing relationship with police-backed security initiative Secured by Design after one of its latest high-security installations achieved the organisation’s prestigious Gold Award certification.
Representatives from Secured by Design recently attended a newly completed high-security vault facility in North London – Vitessa Vault – to formally present the Gold Award certificate, recognising the exceptional standard of physical protection, engineering integrity and crime prevention measures delivered throughout the project.
For Warrior Doors, the recognition represents more than a successful installation. It signals the increasing importance of independently accredited physical security systems at a time when concerns around organised crime, high-value theft and infrastructure resilience continue to rise across the UK.
Managing Director Brett Barratt said the award highlighted the value of collaborative partnerships between specialist manufacturers and independent security accreditation bodies.
“Secured by Design plays a hugely important role in raising standards across the entire security sector,” said Barratt.
“The Gold Award is a a demonstrable level of engineering performance, installation quality and operational resilience that has been independently assessed.”
Originally established by the UK police service, Secured by Design works with manufacturers, architects, developers and security specialists to encourage the adoption of proven crime prevention standards within the built environment.
While many security products focus purely on compliance, Barratt believes the industry is increasingly moving towards performance-led engineering supported by third-party verification.
“There is a significant difference between a product that technically meets a minimum standard and a complete security system designed to operate reliably under real-world threat conditions,” he said.
“That’s where partnerships with organisations like Secured by Design become extremely valuable. Independent accreditation provides confidence not only to the end client, but across the entire supply chain.”
Warrior Doors has built its reputation around the manufacture of bespoke high-security systems for sectors including luxury retail, education, critical infrastructure and specialist vaulting applications.
Unlike many suppliers operating within the security market, the company manufactures its systems in the UK, allowing direct control over fabrication standards, structural reinforcement, project integration and installation delivery.
Barratt said the increasing complexity of modern security threats means clients are becoming far more informed about the distinction between standard commercial products and engineered protective systems.
“We are seeing far greater scrutiny around how systems are manufactured, how they are tested, how they are installed and whether they are supported by credible independent organisations,” he explained.
“The days of security being treated as a secondary procurement exercise are disappearing very quickly, particularly within sectors protecting high-value assets or critical operations.”
The Gold Award recognition also reflects a broader shift taking place within the UK security and construction industries, where resilience, traceability and long-term performance are becoming central considerations in both public and private sector projects.
Industry analysts note that independently accredited physical security systems are increasingly being specified as part of wider operational risk management strategies, particularly in response to growing concerns around organised criminal activity and hostile attack methodologies.
For Warrior Doors, Barratt believes the relationship with Secured by Design will continue to support the company’s long-term strategy of positioning itself as a specialist engineering and manufacturing partner rather than simply a supplier of doors.
“Our focus has always been on engineered protection,” he said.
“Recognition from organisations like Secured by Design reinforces the importance of British manufacturing quality, technical accountability and designing systems that are genuinely built to perform when it matters most.”
