Stainess Steel security doors at the heart of warrior doors security

In high-security manufacturing, material selection shapes far more than the appearance of a finished product. It influences structural integrity, corrosion resistance, maintenance requirements and the ability of a security system to continue performing over decades.

For Birmingham-based Warrior Doors, that philosophy begins with stainless steel.

Across its security doors, high-value display vaults, home and workplace invacuation rooms and time-locked airlock door systems, Warrior Doors has developed its manufacturing approach around stainless steel rather than conventional mild steel construction.

It is a metallurgical choice that Managing Director Brett Barratt believes reflects a simple principle: a security door should be an investment made once.

“When somebody invests in a Warrior Door, our objective is to manufacture something that will protect that building for the long term,” said Barratt. “That starts with the material. Stainless steel gives us an exceptional combination of strength, durability and corrosion resistance, and those characteristics remain part of the product throughout its working life.”

Stainless steel derives its corrosion resistance from the chromium contained within the alloy. When exposed to oxygen, chromium forms a microscopically thin passive oxide layer across the surface, providing an inherent mechanism for resisting corrosion.

For security products installed at the external envelope of a building, that material characteristic carries considerable value.

Doors and frames can spend decades exposed to changing temperatures, moisture, condensation and the demands of continual operation. Stainless steel enables Warrior Doors to engineer longevity directly into the underlying structure.

Operations Manager Dominic Barratt says this material-led approach influences the entire manufacturing process.

“We are manufacturing security products that may be opened and closed thousands upon thousands of times while continuing to perform a very important protective function,” he said. “Material quality matters throughout that lifecycle. Stainless steel gives us a highly durable foundation from which we can manufacture the complete system.”

That same philosophy extends beyond conventional security doors.

Warrior Doors uses its manufacturing expertise across stainless steel display vaults designed for luxury retail environments, invacuation rooms providing protected spaces within homes and workplaces, and sophisticated time-locked airlock entrances controlling access to high-value or sensitive areas.

In each application, security performance has to coexist with reliability, precision and longevity.

Material choice forms part of a much broader engineering approach at Warrior Doors, where physical security products are developed around independently tested performance.

The company’s products have achieved approval to recognised LPS security standards following testing through BRE, while Warrior Doors has also received Secured by Design recognition, including Gold Award success.

For Brett Barratt, those achievements provide an important connection between manufacturing philosophy and independently demonstrated performance.

“Security has to be measurable,” he said. “We can talk about stainless steel, engineering, fabrication and the experience within our team, and ultimately the product has to demonstrate its capability under testing. LPS approval, BRE testing and Secured by Design recognition give customers independent evidence of the performance engineered into our products.”

The distinction becomes particularly important when security is considered across the complete lifecycle of a building.

A security door is a structural asset as well as an access point. Its value therefore extends beyond its performance on installation day to the condition and capability it retains many years later.

That has led Warrior Doors to increasingly frame its manufacturing philosophy around whole-life value.

Stainless steel requires a greater commitment at the manufacturing stage, yet its durability, corrosion resistance and long service potential make it particularly suited to security infrastructure intended to remain in place for decades.

“We have always believed in making products properly and making them to last,” said Dominic Barratt. “There is a lot of engineering within one of our doors that the customer may never see. The materials, fabrication, reinforcement, hardware integration and manufacturing tolerances all contribute to the finished system. Our approach is to build longevity into every stage.”

It is also why the company’s stainless-steel expertise has translated effectively into newer areas of physical security.

Display vaults place engineering alongside premium aesthetics. Invacuation rooms bring high-security principles into protected internal environments. Time-locked airlock doors combine physical barriers with controlled access sequences and sophisticated operating requirements.

Across each application, the underlying philosophy remains consistent.
