Solihull Community Housing (SCH) are an Arm’s Length Management Organisation (ALMO) set up in April 2004 to run Solihull Council’s housing services. SCH are a long term customer of Warrior Doors. We have been working with them for 9 years and will be continuing our partnership moving forward.
SCH manage just under 10,000 tenanted homes and is run by a Board made up of three tenants, four councillors and three independent people chosen for their specialist skills and experience. So far we have installed around 850 doors for SCH and we have around 80 doors planned to be installed this year. We celebrated our 500th door install with SCH by donating £1744.63 with the help of Wates Living Space to Solihull Churches Action on Homelessness (SCAH).
Solihull Community Housing have thousands of tenants to serve. When we met them they were experiencing extreme vandalism, arson and antisocial behaviour around their blocks. Many of their Communal Entrance and Bin Store Doors were prone to vandal attacks, unfit for purpose and unattractive.
Since then Warrior Doors have installed and refurbished many of their Communal Entrance Doors and Bin Store Doors. The Communal Entrance Doors we refurbish and install feature laminated anti-bandit glass panels to provide natural surveillance, light and security for the tenants. The replacement Bin Store Doors are punched louvred with a brushed stainless-steel finish providing ventilation and preventing further break-ins.
We at Warrior Doors are very proud of our work with Solihull Community Housing. A single door replacement will make a huge impact but larger scale projects like this have immeasurable benefits. SCH blocks are now more sought after and they have lower maintenance costs. This has allowed them to put that extra money back into their blocks in other ways.
Solihull Community Housing partners with Wates Living Space as their main contractor for housing maintenance. Wates are one of the UKs leading providers of planned and responsive maintenance services in the social housing sector, maintaining over 500,000 homes nationwide every year.
SCH specified us to Wates as their choice of door supplier and installer and since then we have worked together to provide high quality products and services for SCH and their tenants. We are always open to work with contractors as we know for Housing Associations, Local Authorities and Councils it is much easier to manage repairs and maintenance if it all comes from the same place.
