A major high-security installation delivered by Birmingham-based specialist manufacturer Warrior Doors has been formally recognised with one of the security industry’s most respected endorsements, following a site visit by Warrior Doors Managing Director Brett Barratt to Vitessa Vaults in North London.

Representatives from Secured by Design (SBD), the official police security initiative, attended the Oakwood facility to present the prestigious Gold Award certificate, recognising the exceptional standards of physical security, engineering integrity and crime prevention measures achieved throughout the project.

The award follows the successful completion of a significant security vault installation at Vitessa Vaults, an independent safety deposit box centre operating one of the UK’s highest-rated commercial vault environments, featuring a Grade 9 high-security vault and comprehensive on-site physical security infrastructure.

For Warrior Doors, the recognition marks more than the completion of another specialist project. It highlights the growing importance of independently accredited physical security systems as organisations and private clients place increasing emphasis on resilience, traceability and proven protection against evolving security threats.

Warrior Doors Managing Director Brett Barratt attended the presentation ceremony alongside the Vitessa Vaults team and said the award reflected both the quality of the installation and the value of working closely with organisations committed to raising standards across the security sector.

“Secured by Design plays a hugely important role in raising standards throughout the industry,” said Barratt.

“The Gold Award represents far more than a compliance exercise. It demonstrates a level of engineering performance, manufacturing quality and operational resilience that has been independently assessed and verified.

“Projects like Vitessa Vaults show what can be achieved when security is approached as an engineered environment rather than simply a collection of products.”

The project required extensive collaboration between Warrior Doors, Vitessa Vaults and Secured by Design throughout the design, manufacturing and installation process. Working within a highly controlled environment, Warrior Doors delivered bespoke security systems engineered to integrate seamlessly within the facility’s wider protective infrastructure.

Barratt explained that installations of this calibre demand significantly greater attention to detail than conventional commercial security projects.

“When you are working within Grade 9 environments and facilities designed to protect high-value assets, every aspect of the project — from manufacturing tolerances and structural reinforcement through to installation sequencing and final commissioning — must perform exactly as intended.

“The integrity of the manufacturing process becomes every bit as important as the certification itself.”

Originally established by the UK police service, Secured by Design works with manufacturers, developers, architects and security specialists to encourage the adoption of proven crime prevention standards across the built environment. The Gold Award is reserved for projects demonstrating exceptional commitment to security-led design principles and independently verified physical protection measures.

Warrior Doors Managing Director Brett Barratt was on site to receive the certificate alongside representatives from Vitessa Vaults and Secured by Design, underlining the collaborative approach that helped deliver the award-winning facility.

Industry observers note that demand for specialist vaulting facilities has grown steadily as concerns around high-value theft, organised criminal activity and the reduction of traditional bank-operated safety deposit services continue to reshape the security landscape.

At the same time, clients are becoming increasingly sophisticated in how they evaluate physical security providers, looking beyond product specifications and focusing instead on manufacturing capability, accreditation, traceability and long-term performance.

“We are seeing much greater scrutiny around how systems are manufactured, how they are tested and whether they are supported by credible independent organisations,” said Barratt.

“There is a significant difference between a product that simply meets a minimum standard and a fully engineered security solution designed to perform under real-world threat conditions.

“Independent accreditation provides confidence across the entire supply chain.”

Unlike many suppliers operating within the security sector, Warrior Doors designs and manufactures its bespoke security systems in the UK, maintaining direct control over fabrication quality, certification compliance and installation delivery.

The successful completion of the Vitessa Vaults project further strengthens Warrior Doors’ growing reputation within specialist sectors including luxury retail, critical infrastructure, education and high-security vaulting environments.

For Barratt, the Gold Award serves as further validation of the company’s long-term strategy.

“Our focus has always been on engineered protection,” he said.

“Recognition from organisations like Secured by Design reinforces the importance of British manufacturing quality, technical accountability and designing systems that are genuinely built to perform when it matters most.”

As physical security continues to move higher on the agenda for organisations protecting valuable assets, projects such as Vitessa Vaults provide a powerful example of how specialist engineering, independent accreditation and British manufacturing expertise can combine to deliver security environments built for the challenges of today and tomorrow.
